None of us want to grow old, but unfortunately there’s absolutely nothing we can do about it. Of course this doesn’t mean we should simply throw in the towel. In fact, the exact opposite applies – we simply have to take whatever steps we can in order to fight aging. Ironically, many young people couldn’t care less about fine lines and wrinkles, and yet it’s the first 30 years of your life which will, to a large extent, determine just how well your skin deals with aging.
Naturally, if you neglect your body when you’re young, you’re more likely to start looking old before your time than a person who has always taken good care of themselves. This doesn’t only mean staying out of the sun, but instead, it also means eating a proper diet and living a healthy lifestyle in general. Of course your skin is going to age a lot quicker if you spend your entire life in the sun, but even if you avoid the sun completely, you’ll still end up with lines and wrinkles, even if it does take a little while longer.
Getting regular exercise is also essential, and what’s more, it won’t only help you to fight aging skin, but instead, it will also keep the rest of your body in great shape. People who get very little physical exercise always age quicker than those who get plenty of exercise – they start becoming ill more often, they start experiencing painful joints at a younger age, and yes, they are also the first ones to start getting lines and wrinkles.
To be honest, we’re more fortunate nowadays than we’ve ever been before because science and technology has made a lot of progress in recent years. These days most of us know which foods to eat and which foods are best avoided, even though we don’t always use this information as we should. We also have more health and beauty products at our disposal than we did a few decades ago, and many of these are known to slow down the effects of aging.
Having said that, the vast majority of skin care products actually accelerate the aging process and this is particularly true when it comes to skin. I’d be willing to bet my last dollar that if you were to go study the ingredients lists of the different skin care products you currently have, you’ll find most of them, if not all of them, contain some form of alcohol. Alcohol cannot benefit your skin in any way at all, and to the contrary, it will actually be causing a small amount of damage each time it comes into contact with your skin.
Petroleum based products, which you’ll find in more than 90% of skin creams, are so detrimental to your skin that they should quite simply be banned entirely. If you really need to treat your skin with petroleum based products, you could save a fortune by just buying some motor oil. And, if the smell doesn’t appeal to you, you could always just add in some fragrance. Cosmetics manufacturers all over the world use fragrances so as to make their products appealing, despite the fact that there is scientific evidence linking many fragrances to serious illnesses.
Naturally you will want to use a few good products to help you fight aging, but that doesn’t mean you should be willing to put your health at risk. There are products out there which can be used with complete peace of mind, and in fact, a few of them are so safe, you could even eat them, and that, in my opinion, means a lot more than claims which are based on nothing but speculation.
