Xtend-Life Restorative Night Cream – A real review for a change!

Xtend Life is not one of the more popularly known cosmetic companies around the world, nor is it huge by any standards. However, it has been making significant progress since its inception in the year 2000 and has also made a positive difference in the lives of many customers which is one of the factors I feel, has contributed immensely to its online success and growth.

The restorative night cream by Xtend Life is one of its more popular products from its skin care range. In this review, I will try to cover some important aspects of this product to help you reach a decision. This review is in no way biased or designed to manipulate your purchasing decision. On the contrary, we wish to give you all the facts (both good and bad) so you may reach an informed decision.

Xtend Life’s claims about this product

It is fairly well known that degradation of the skin happens due to 3 main factors. Xtend Life claims that their Active Day Cream attacks all of these 3 in combination while most other products cater to just one or two of these.

These 3 factors are loss of collagen, lower production levels of hyaluronic acid in the skin and the oxidation caused by higher levels of free radicals.

The Restorative Night Cream has the same ingredients as those of the day cream to tackle these problems and in addition it has Manuka Honey, Avocado extract and shea butter. The product is supposed to decrease wrinkles, fine lines, sagging skin while making it tighter, more elastic and fresher looking as that of a younger woman. Additionally, it also moisturizes the skin very deeply “from within” by penetrating the 7 layers of skin.

According to the website, the product uses Xtend TK a patented form of Bio Active Kertin extracted from sheep wool to stimulate the regrowth of collagen, elastin and new skin cells.

The issue with degrading hyaluronic acid level is tackled by using Phytessence Wakame, an anti-oxidant derived from a type of algae found only in Japanese sea. It is rich in minerals important for our skin and has properties that help heal irritated and dry skin. This ingredient also slows down the effects of hyaluronidase, the enzyme responsible for the breakdown of hyaluronic acid in the skin.

To destroy free radicals, this product uses a nano version of Coenzyme Q10, a naturally occurring vitamin like anti-oxidant that degrades with age and with exposure to UV rays. Due to its nano emulsified form, it can penetrate 7 layers of the skin to help fight free radicals in the skin.

The addition of Manuka honey further helps skin cell renewal, formation of collagen and in protection against free radicals. Avocado oil helps reduce age spots while also nourishing and moisturizing it. The primary purpose of the shea butter is to moisturize as well as to reduce scars, blemishes and brown spots from the skin.

Xtend life has added all these ingredients in an effort to tackle the 3 main reasons of aging skin with a single product. However, having the problem solved theoretically is not equal to results for the end customer. Getting the desired results in a lab or clinically proving that these ingredients achieve these results isn’t good enough either. The real test of the effectiveness of any product lies in how well it delivers in its promises to its customers after mass distribution.

Real people, Real Results (The Good and the Bad)

We scoured the web extensively to get a real feel for what kind of results real customers have had with the Xtend Life Restorative Night Cream. We have compiled the results on each aspect of the product based on experiences of people who have used this cream and also included some comments from customers, we feel are vital.

Xtend Life essentially makes three claims with this product.

  1. It moisturizes your skin very deeply by penetrating all seven layers of the skin
  2. It restores tightness and elasticity of your skin
  3. It reduces wrinkles and fine lines

We read some major skin care blogs and forums to see what people had to say about the above points.

1. We found that with most people who used the restorative night cream, its moisturizing ability was the first thing they noticed with the very first use. Most customers commented on how “deep” they feel the moisturizing was and that their skin was moisturized from within. Almost all creams you will find on the market will either leave you greasy and will be a temporary fix or they will simply not work at all. In the case of Xtend Life, there was no greasy feeling in spite of providing very good moisture. One person even commented that she forgot to put on her night cream and her day cream the following morning, and then went for a swim only to find their skin still moisturized after!

Another lady who we found, who was a skeptic but is now a raving fan says this …

2. Moving onto its ability to restore tightness and elasticity, we found that it did deliver on this promise for most people but there were few who said that it did not do anything to the tightness of their skin and that it was still saggy. There weren’t many of these people though. One thing to note is that this isn’t something that will happen overnight. Most people who claimed good results with skin elasticity also mentioned that they had been using the cream for upwards of five to six weeks. So while you may see some improvement earlier than a month, don’t expect it make your skin look 10 years younger in 10 days!

I also believe that time maybe the reason we found that some people did not experience the promised result when it came to tightness of the skin. It may have been because they quit on the product before giving it a fair chance.

An interesting point to note here is that this product probably won’t give you good results if you are 18 years of age or younger. In fact it may do more damage than good. In all fairness to Xtend Life, the Night Restorative Cream is not designed for this age group in the first place. It does tend to block pores for some people and that will be a problem for a young, acne prone skin.

Interestingly, we also found 1 customer review from a 32 year old that said:

This review along with the other one from a younger reviewer, we can only deduce that people with an acne prone skin absolutely need to stay away from it and find themselves other alternatives.

3. Finally, let’s move on to the final claim which says that the cream removes wrinkles and fine lines. This is one aspect of this product where we were not able to draw a conclusion. There are mixed views about this from customers.

There were a few comments to the tune of this:

And then there were also a few that said that it did remove their fine lines but they weren’t too heavy to begin with.

Other than the above, here are a few blurbs of comments by real customers talking on forums and blogs.

This customer who had been using the night cream for a while said;

I am seriously considering asking them about a discount to buy in a huge bulk. I mean I REALLY love it and have to tell you I am glowing. Just went to walk the dogs and had 20-25 year old guys wolf-whistling (been a while since that has happened in this age-obsessed town). In the last two days I have had more compliments and my skin is really glowing. It is NOT me it is this product. I have never been so impressed by a product and am thinking of going to visit Leslie Baumann (a doctor-dermatologist in Miami that runs the anti-aging clinic.) I am thrilled I just hope I do not plateau as so many products tend to start great then you reach a level and have to stop change or discontinue use.

Another customer who had just tried said…

Okay. I got my Xtendlife lotion two days ago, and I was going to wait to post this, but I decided what the heck. I LOVE THIS STUFF! It’s pricey, no doubt. But the results are just DELICIOUS! It goes on so smooth and silky. No stickiness. No greasiness. The only way I can describe it is it makes my skin feel like silk. That is so cliche, I know. But it does. It absorbs quickly. A little goes a LONG way. I don’t know how it’s going to do as far as the crepey-ness (sp?) and the wrinkles but it sure does make the skin look a lot healthier and less dry when you put it on. And it feels scrumptious! If you were on the fence, add me to the list of another lifelong customer! This stuff is amazing!

My Final Recommendation:

Based on all that I read, I’ll say this – If your skin has started to see signs of aging or has aged considerably and you don’t have an acne problem then you definitely need to give Xtend-Life Restorative Night Cream a shot.

As one of the commenter put it (after their first use) and I quote:

Worst case scenario: It’s a really good moisturizer, plus it has a money back guarantee, that’s what sold me!

It really does have a 180 day guarantee and one that the company honors. How do we know?

This is how:

So worst case scenario: the product doesn’t work for you or it doesn’t work as well as you’d like, you can always get your money back. Plus, since they give you a full 6 month period you’ll be able to put it to a full test of say 3 months (which is what they recommend), so really a no brainer in my opinion.

Note: If you are unsure about which of their products to buy in case you have an unusual skin type, you can chat with a live agent on their site from here. I asked some really stupid questions to test their patience and I must say I was impressed with their professionalism and the willingness to help đŸ™‚
