Many people consider anti wrinkle skin care to be a relatively new concept, but this couldn’t be any further from the truth. Our approach to dealing with aging skin may have changed over the years, as have the products which people use, but the desire to be wrinkle free has been around for thousands of years already. As far back as the time of the ancient Egyptians, men and women were using various concoctions on their skin in a bid to have an everlasting youthful appearance.
Interestingly enough, both the Egyptians and the Romans were already practicing plastic surgery by 800BC, although their goal at that point wasn’t to remove wrinkles, but instead, it was to repair injuries sustained in battles. Today, cosmetic surgery is a multibillion dollar industry, with more than 9 million procedures being carried out in the United States during 2010. This shows clearly just how concerned people are with regards to physical appearance.
Contrary to what many people believe, cosmetic surgery isn’t the only solution for fighting wrinkles. It may have been in the past, but anti wrinkle skin care products have advanced dramatically in more recent times. If you ask someone who has had surgery in order to remove wrinkles why they chose to go that route, they invariably say it’s because regular skin care products just don’t work. The saddest thing of all is that they were willing to put their lives at risk, based on nothing but misinformation.
Laboratory trials and clinical trials have proven beyond all doubt that some products can indeed reduce, or even eliminate wrinkles altogether. You can also find several skin care products which can effectively slow down the effects aging has on the skin. Usually this would include a combination of dietary supplements and skin care creams and lotions.
The secret lies in determining which products work, and which ones don’t. Of course this in itself can be quite a daunting task, given the sheer number of products out there. Also, when it comes to skin care, more expensive doesn’t always equate to better quality, or more effective products. I could name several products which don’t come cheap, and yet there is just no way on earth they will have any lasting effect on your skin, other than the damage they can cause.
Even some of the most expensive creams and lotions contain alcohol in one form or another, petroleum based ingredients, and a range of other synthetically produced substances and chemicals. Many of these ingredients are known to be exceptionally harmful, not only for your skin, but for your overall health in general, which of course is why many of them are now being restricted in several European countries. Let’s just say, no competent dermatologist would ever advise you to use these ingredients on your skin.
Good anti wrinkle skin care products should be made from 100% natural ingredients – they should be so mild on your skin, that you could essentially eat them without fear of becoming ill. Lastly, don’t be fooled just because you see that a certain product contains a well known active ingredient, because in the vast majority of cases, there will only be a minimal amount of that ingredient present – just enough to allow the manufacturer to legally mention it on their product.
